It's not just ESPN! Spencer Tillman was calling for a Florida 2nd half blowout against Arkansas for "style" points. Didn't Spurrier get chastised while at Fla. for allowing 2nd team QB's to run the offense late in games?

And that in my opinion is why ND shouldnt play in a BCS Bowl Game. I think only teams that are part of a conference should be BCS Bowl eligible. If a team doesnt belong to a conference then they do not deserve to play in a BCS Bowl Game. Its time ND goes ahead and joins the Big East. They already are in Basketball arent they?
Every sport except football at Notre Dame is big east. They have continually stated they pride being an independent football team and will not join any time soon.
In 1999, Notre Dame almost joined the Big 10. All of their sports, including football. But the deal fell through or something.
It's smart for them to stay independent. They don't have to share tv or bowl game money with anyone. In a conference, it's all split up equally.
